Good health for cats should be the aim for anyone and everyone who has the pleasure of sharing their home with a cat or three. Not only is this approach good for your cat, it is also good for you – both for your stress and for your wallet. And, in reality, there is no better way than with a system of natural cat health care.
Most people think that good health for cats comes from feeding the food recommended by their veterinarian, by getting annual shots against feline diseases and by addressing every disease the veterinary way.
But is this the best way? It is one of the most expensive ways, but that doesn’t mean much.
The thing to remember is that cats evolved over millenia without any help from man. They are perfectly adapted to their role in life. Man and his science were not even thought of in this time of their evolution.
Cats were happy, lived their normal life span and fitted in to the environment perfectly. They neither overbred nor underbred. Their populations swung according to the available food and the local conditions. But this is a normal and natural part of nature maintaining balance.
Over the last 50 years or so, man has entered the picture of the domestic feline. The keeping of cats has been exploited. Now, Big Business compete with each other to get your attention. But has it been to your cat’s advantage?
The majority of domestic cats are fed commercial cat food. Much of this is recommended by veterinarians. What you need to know is that pet food manufacturers have a foothold in the veterinary universities. They can and do influence the students.
But if you take a serious look at the ingredients and the way almost all commercial cat food is made, you may be rather alarmed. Just as a taster (as this is a huge subject in itself), the protein that cats so desperately need is very poor quality. The expensive, good quality protein goes to the more lucrative human market.
This poor quality protein is often left for days, in the open, before it is used. Cats need very fresh protein. They are not scavengers like dogs. The only eat what they have killed, in the wild.
The addition of carbohydrates, which are cheap, are alien to cats’ digestive systems. They don’t work well on a high carbohydrate diet. This diet is reserved for the herbivores.
This diet does not promote health. In fact, quite the opposite.
So, by feeding your cat any number of commercial cat foods, you are setting her up for a fall, in the not too distant future.
This inevitably involves a trip to the local vet. Vets have not been trained to look for causes and they rarely suspect the food, especially if they sell it. So, instead of getting you to change the diet to a quality, natural one, they give your cat medication. Not only are medications unable to cure the cause, they are also liver toxic and lower the immune system.
So your cat’s health spirals down. And eventually leads to euthanasia. Usually at an early age.
Now let’s look at a cat fed a quality, natural diet, according to how she evolved. The diet keeps her immune system healthy. She rarely gets sick and when she does, it is mild and she can get over it herself in a few, quiet days. She requires no medical attention.
She lives a long and trouble-free life. At the end, she passes peacefully and quickly, on her own.
Nature never gets things wrong. How man interprets nature is often misleading and wrong. Good health for cats comes from following natural laws, not man-made, commercial fads. Natural cat health care is economical and effective.
