Treating feline leukemia can be straight forward. It's all about understanding cat, understanding health and understanding the stress domestic cats suffer from.
Sadly feline leukemia is all too common today. Yet it wasn't not that long ago. This is despite (or because of?) all the new veterinary treatments.
Feline leukemia does not stand alone in any single cause. What causes this distressing condition also causes a multitude of other problems.
It is the individual expression that is unique and personal.
Disease labels don't help define causes. They are adored by veterinary (and medical) practitioners because they limit the number of drugs they need to select from.
In addition, disease labels are often wrong. A second, or fourth, opinion may come up with a different disease label.
So, however much the cat is treated with all that the veterinary industry has at its disposal, no healing will happen because the cause has not been addressed. Or properly considered. Or recognised.
There are three major causes of poor health in cats, plus various more minor causes.
They include:
Dr S Allan Price is quoted in a book on feline nutrition:
“I’ve been dealing with feline leukemia for years and I get disgusted with most veterinarians who advocate test and slaughter – that is if the cat tests positive, it’s best to kill it. We’ve had cats who have been able to climb trees and look normal in less than ten weeks. And I’m talking about cats who were brought in to us too weak even to stand up.”
He was talking about the typical diet cats are fed. You know, the ones that are 'natural', 'complete', 'created by veterinarians', 'designed by science', and so forth. The ones that have a long list of ingredients that don't sound like food, that you've never heard of before and don't understand.
Pet food is sourced from waste. The good stuff goes to the human market. The ingredients are inappropriate for cats, lack nutrition and are highly toxic.
What does anyone expect to happen to health, when you consider this 'food'?
Real food nourishes, supports a healthy immune system, prevents disease.
Colourful packets depicting smiling people in white coats don't improve the quality inside.
Probably most people appreciate that health care is now less about the patient and more about the money.
I recently heard of a woman who had broken her leg on holiday in a different country. The hospital refused any treatment, leaving her alone and in pain, until the payment had been made.
Much worse experiences have become normal.
Yet it wasn't that long ago when health practitioners treated the poor without any expectation of renumeration.
The number of veterinary drugs keep increasing, but the health of domestic cats keeps declining.
This includes housing, freedom, earthing, direct exposure to the healing power of the sun, family stress, their mother's health during pregnancy and lactation, past traumas. The list is endless.
But it is all relevant because full, energetic healing may not have occurred.
Living beings need energetic healing. Without that, unresolved problems tend to accumulate, one on top of another, until something gives.
No cat has ever suffered from a deficiency of vaccines or veterinary drugs.
However, they often suffer from a lack of freedom, a lack of earthing, a lack of fresh air, the ability to escape from noise, the chance to hang out in Nature.
All this matters.
Cats evolved on a quality, raw diet. That supplies all their nutritional needs.
Simply by changing the diet of your cat, their body is more able to respond in the way it was designed to - to heal itself.
Treating feline leukemia starts with the diet, starts with the understanding and appreciation of a detox period, starts with connecting with them to support their needs.
That may be enough to bring your cat back. But it can be a hard ask for most people. Most people need regular support.
In addition to the diet, feline leukemia can respond very positively to well prescribed homeopathic treatment. Finding a homeopath or homeopathic vet who can support you and your cat through this difficult time, can be highly rewarding.
