Feline atopic dermatitis is a condition that is intensely itchy so scratching is ongoing, causing redness of the skin. It's unpleasant for the cat and for those watching in concern.
The veterinary industry have decided it's an allergic reaction, for which they have little to offer other than the high caliber steroidal drugs.
Let's look at this condition from a different perspective.
Health is a natural state of being. If it wasn't most of us and all the other animals would not be here. We all would have died out long ago.
This means living a natural life, in natural conditions, on a natural diet for the species is basically the healthiest way to live.
There may be obstacles to overcome and dangers to avoid. However, this lifestyle has brought us all here, cats included.
Bear in mind, wild cats are very successful. As long as they have access to their diet (suitably sized prey), they can live in most parts of the world.
This means ill health is a deviation from that.
Humans love to tamper with things that work. For some extraordinary reason, some of our species feel they can improve on Nature.
And that's where health takes a tumble.
Instead of providing our gracious domestic cats with their natural diet, they are fed a gross concoction of discarded slaughter house waste, cheap plant foods, chemicals to flavour, colour, tempt and preserve with chemical 'supplements', copy cats of the real thing.
This non-nutritious 'food' doesn't support vibrant health. And it is full of toxins.
An analogy is like putting the wrong fuel in your car. It won't work, or work as well, and can ruin the engine. Ditto to your cat. Ruined health that often starts with feline atopic dermatitis or other skin conditions. And usually leads on to kidney issues.
Most domestic cats of today have gone through the process of veterinary treatment of some sort - drugs for worms or fleas, sterilisation, vaccines - and possibly all of them, sometimes at the same time.
This overwhelms the delicate immune system. One assault at a time would be bad enough, but all together can lead to death in vulnerable cats.
For the rest, the immune system can recover, but it needs support, natural support. Without that, there is often a slow, steady decline in health. Normally starting with skin issues.
What's the story behind this decline?
Drugs are chemicals. Chemicals are toxic to living beings, especially to cats who are extremely sensitive beings. Together with the toxins in commercial cat food, most cats would be very toxic if they didn't have the ability to excrete them.
The bowels and renal system do a good job, but when there is an overload, as is so common today, the skin and other organs help share the load. The result of the skin helping to excrete toxins is often an eruption. Or simply an intolerable itch.
When the skin is denied the opportunity of excreting the toxins, as with suppressive drugs such as steroids/cortisone the elimination goes inwards, to more important organs - the liver, the kidneys, the heart, the spleen, or all of them.
This leads you to the answer. To heal feline atopic dermatitis, or indeed any other health condition, feed your cat a natural and quality raw meat and bones diet. And use natural therapies such as professional homeopaths for your cats's health care. And yours.
