Treating Worms in Cats

- Naturally, Effectively, Easily

By Madeleine Innocent

Treating worms in cats is can be easy, effective, natural and free! However, to achieve that, you first need to understand about health.

Sadly, most people rely on the toxic drugs the drug companies churn out. The veterinary worm treatment for cats can be more hazardous to the health of cats, than the proliferation of the worms themselves.

Instead of turning to chemicals, as vets have been taught so well by the drug companies, it is better to look for the cause of the problem. First let’s look at the economy of healthy cats.

Worms Help Form Healthy Microbiomes

All of us are carriers of all manner of other life forms. They make up the microbiomes. The gut is rich in them, but they are all over and in us. We would not be alive without them.

So worms are natural and normal in your cat. However, they need to be in the right numbers. Too many and problems arise. Ditto on too few.

So what makes the population of naturally occurring worms increase? Or decrease?

When the cat has a low immune system, which may not be obvious initially, they are unable to protect themselves from adverse events. However, as their health deteriorates, it becomes more obvious.

The Importance of a Healthy Immunity

There are a variety of factors, or more normally a combination, that causes the immune system to malfunction. The following are a few of the more important causes:

  • past veterinary drugs, wormers, flea treatments, etc which are toxic chemicals
  • commercial cat food contain many toxic chemicals
  • environmental chemicals in the furnishings, cleaners, insect repellants, etc

How damaging any or all of these are to your cat depends on their sensitivity and individuality. All beings are individual, with different characters and different life experiences.

However, cats are extremely sensitive animals, much more so than most others.

And it is this high sensitivity that needs to be considered before you think of treating worms in cats.

The Different Worms in Cats

There are two main types of worms in cats. The tapeworm is the worm found in the digestive system. They look like little grains of rice in the stool, as in the pic. When alive, when the stool is fresh, they are white and may elongate as they move.

In stale stool, they have died and turn a yellowy colour.

The other type is the roundworm. That is normally only found in kittens and they are ejected via vomiting. They can look like spaghetti, long, thin and white.

Worming your cat with the veterinary wormers will kill the worms. But is that all you want?

Wouldn't a better approach be to improve the cat's immune system, so they can keep the worm populations in the perfect balance for optimum health?

Bearing in mind, too, that repeated treatments will erode the health of your cat.

Treating Worms in Cats

To improve the health of your cat's immunity, to balance the internal worm population, there are a few things you can do.

  • The very first thing is to consider a diet change. A healthy and natural diet has a dramatic and beneficial influence on the health of the gut. And very often, this is quick. Worm populations normalise.
  • Consider changing the toxic areas in the home. You can easily start with the cleaning products and insecticides.
  • Consider whether your cat really needs all those veterinary treatments. Natural therapies, such as homeopathy, works by strengthening the immune system, not by destroying it.

The diet is really important. Cooked and low quality food is very difficult to digest. The extended time in the gut allows the worms to breed excessively.

Raw meat of good quality, digests really fast in a carnivore's gut. This prevents the worms breeding out of natural balance.

Chemicals absorbed from food and drugs have to be expelled. An unhealthy cat is not equipped to do that efficiently, so the toxins mount up.

Efficiently treating worms in cats means looking at why this should happen. Holistic health care, including diet and homeopathic treatment, is all about enhancing the immune system naturally. It fully supports what the body is already trying to do.
